A person suffering with halitosis will be
unaware of this that he cannot detect his own bad odor not even when
he exhales against his hand. He becomes aware of this only when he
notices that people around him are avoiding him or anyone tells him
about the bad breath. It becomes worse when u get older. The power of
odor is variable and can be defined as mild, moderate, pungent,
objectionable and very objectionable.
Halitosis is the technical name for bad breath and is caused when you
eat or the consume the foods or substances which can cause bad breath
such as garlic, raw onions, cabbage, horse radish, eggs, broccoli,
Brussels sprouts, fish, red meat, peppers, cigarettes, alcohol and
coffee. But the bad breath will occur even if you dont eat the above
mentioned foods. |

Risks factors
of bad breath includes the following
Bronchial and lung infections, chronic sinusitis, post-nasal drip
and tonsillitis can cause the bad breath.
The mucous discharge during cold or flu can create bad breath.
Untreated nasal polyps, diabetes, syphilis, diseases of the stomach
and lungs, liver and kidneys can create the bad breath.
Gallbladder dysfunction also creates a type of halitosis. This type
of halitosis can be controlled by minimizing the Intake of fat.
Some of the medicines will also cause the bad breath.
And the various carcinomas will also create bad breath.
The major reason for bad breath is the stress. A main effect of the
stress is the drying of the mouth and also creates the bad odor in the
mouth.
A painful menstruation or dysmenorrhea in some of the women will
cause the bad breath.
Other risk factors include the periodontal diseases such as mouth
sores, gum abscesses etc.
Ill fitted dentures, crooked teeth, old fillings that no longer fit
their cavity, pregnancy can create the halitosis
Food allergy, gastric or peptic ulcers, black tongue can cause the
bad breath.
